Rolling Threading Machine Working Principle

The principle of cold rolling small-module involute splines on a thread rolling machine. L and R are a pair of involute rolling wheels with identical parameters, mounted on the two main spindles of the thread rolling machine, and can rotate synchronously in the same direction under the drive of the transmission mechanism. The R wheel can be driven by a hydraulic cylinder for radial feed motion, and the L wheel can be adjusted to coincide with the indentation of the R wheel on the surface of the workpiece P. The workpiece P is positioned and clamped by two center holes. Adjusting the fixture allows the workpiece to move axially. Under force, it can swing by an angle Φ around an axis parallel to the machine tool spindle through point O on the fixture, ensuring that the workpiece remains in a free rolling state with the two rolling wheels during the cold rolling process, while also facilitating workpiece clamping.

 

The structural dimensions, geometric tolerances and technical requirements of the rolling wheel are formulated with reference to the thread rolling wheel and cylindrical measuring gear. The common normal length or span M of the rolling wheel is calculated according to the spline data in the gear manufacturing process. The required material can be Cr12MoV (hardness 59~62HRC).

The adjustment of the mold distance is very rough, and if the thread depth is slightly different, it is difficult to adjust. Either it is adjusted too deep and the material bounces up, or it is adjusted too shallow and it is difficult to tighten the nut.

The original 39mm diameter return rod with spring was replaced with an 80mm diameter double-acting hydraulic cylinder piston rod. The original rod was prone to breakage when performing heavy lifting or prolonged tasks, posing a safety hazard if someone was standing near the machine and could be injured. The improved model eliminates this issue of return rod breakage.

The hydraulic structure is bidirectional hydraulic, with high pressure for forward movement and low pressure for reverse movement during operation. Both forward and reverse movements are hydraulically controlled, achieving separation of high and low pressure, protecting the equipment, and reducing oil temperature. The hydraulic system is the same as that of the Z28-200, Z28-260, and Z28-280 large thread rolling machines, making it more stable and durable.
