The Big Thread Rolling Machine (Z28-500) rolls up to φ100 mm with a 10 mm pitch at 520 kN, and it is specified wherever the stock is tougher than average or has been heat-treated. Capacity is the headline; what determines whether the machine is still accurate in its fifth year is how the structure and the oil system are designed.
Structure. The machine frame is fabricated from steel plate and tempered to eliminate internal stress, so it stays dimensionally stable rather than relaxing out of alignment under continuous load. Feed pressure is adjustable across a wide band - from 0.5 ton up to 55 tons - which is what lets one machine cover both fine forms rolled at low force and coarse, deep forms that need the full 55 tons. On some models the in-feed rolling cycle is governed by adjustable rolling and dwell timers, so fine and coarse forms can be set by timer rather than by operator feel. An extended universal joint maintains smooth operation at large workpiece angles, and the spindle motor is sized for demanding product.

This model carries an extra recirculating gearbox oil tank with a pump, which keeps the worm wheel and worm shaft from overheating and protects their service life, plus an oversized coolant tank for a stronger cooling effect on the work zone.
