Working Principle Of A Thread Rolling Machine

Sep 08, 2025

A thread rolling machine differs from a thread threading machine. It is a machine tool that uses pressure to form threads on a workpiece. There is no cutting on the workpiece, and the pressure applied improves the tightness and strength of the workpiece. It is mainly used for threading solid workpieces (such as steel bars). It has advantages such as simple operation, energy saving and environmental protection, and high work efficiency.

A thread rolling machine mainly consists of a machine body, electrical control box, hydraulic system, cooling system, and thread rolling wheel shafts. It is generally classified into two-axis and three-axis thread rolling machines based on the number of axes. The difference is that two-axis machines are cheaper and can only process solid workpieces, while three-axis machines are more expensive and can process tubular workpieces.

Thread Rolling Machine Workflow:
1. Debug the machine tool. Connect the power supply as required, add coolant to the coolant tank, and then start the thread rolling machine for trial operation to check if the cooling system and control system are working properly.

2. Install the corresponding thread rolling wheels according to the required diameter of the steel bar to be threaded, and replace the corresponding washers to ensure the accuracy of the thread pitch.

3. Clamp the reinforcing bar: Place the reinforcing bar to be threaded onto the centering jaws, ensuring the extended length is aligned with the end face of the stripping blade of the thread rolling head at the starting position, and clamp the reinforcing bar.

4. Start the thread rolling machine: Rotate the moving handle to begin stripping the ribs in the forward direction, continue feeding to roll the thread, and after completing the thread rolling, press the reverse start button to automatically retract the blade.
